Whether it’s down to embarrassment, fear or simply lack of awareness, there are many factors which can hold you back from achieving optimum health. So have a think about it: what is stopping you from getting the most out of your current diet and exercise routine? And how can you address it?
Feeling daunted by how everything works is no excuse to stick to the same old familiar routine while you’re at the gym. You may feel more confident trying something new when it’s less busy, train at home, or seek advice from an experienced personal trainer in Brighton and Hove. It will bring with it renewed confidence and a whole new set of benefits. The first step is often the hardest!
A sedentary lifestyle is a common cause of fatigue. Although exercise can seem unappealing when you’re tired, it can actually help overcome weariness by promoting oxygen and blood circulation and boosting adrenaline production. It can also help you to lose any excess weight, which may be putting extra strain on your heart and adding to everyday fatigue.
What about nutrition?
With your nutrition, be aware that food combinations that include high amounts of salt and sugar are more stimulating, meaning that you may find it difficult to limit yourself to suitable portions. Foods that won’t trigger cravings are those that occur in nature, such as high fibre complex carbohydrates (i.e. wholegrains and vegetables) plus protein and small amounts of fat. By sticking to more natural foods you will find you feel much more in control of your choices. For something different, try quinoa which is a great source of complex carbohydrates and protein.
Food acts as fuel for our bodies and without a balanced diet you can easily run out of steam. If you lack iron in your diet, your body won’t produce enough haemoglobin; a substance that enables red blood cells to carry oxygen to your cells. Make sure your diet includes sufficient iron-rich foods such as lean red meat, dark green leafy vegetables and whole grains.
